Jenny: Welcome UDL Explorers. My name is Jenny and I’m an AI avatar representing a staff role. Our next challenge is to design an activity that uses visual and auditory information to improve accessibility. Increasing accessibility in project documentation and training is vital for supporting project participants. People feel more engaged when they receive training and support that directly addresses their immediate needs. This is connected to the UDL principle of representation, and specifically using visual and auditory information to engage and support people. To do this, I sometimes use screen casting to explain complex steps in a task or to troubleshoot difficult parts of a project. Also, I like trying out new technology to see if it can help me improve accessibility without creating an unsustainable workload. This video was created using generative AI because I wanted to demonstrate how accessibility can be improved when you don’t have access to recording facilities, but still want to produce a video that has a live action feel. I’m sure many of you have great ideas for how to use visual and auditory information to improve accessibility. The challenge for you is to share an approach that you’re currently using or maybe one that you’d like to try in the future. Happy exploring! See you next time.
